Miss Selfridge - Paisley Neon Scarf

Yesterday was my last day teaching in England. While the day was very much bitter sweet, I did leave the school feeling relieved and positive about my decision to go back home to Canada. If there is one important lesson that I have learned from this experience, it's to always follow your gut feeling. I have always prized myself on the fact that I do know myself well enough that I quick to realise when something will work out or not and I have always trusted that feeling. I truly believe that it's for that reason that I can confidently say that so far, I have lived a life of no regrets. Every decision I have made has always been made in order to achieve true happiness and really, with that frame of mind, how can I go wrong?

I have never been good at goodbyes and yesterday was no different. As the end of the day came closer and closer, I could feel my heartbeat race quicker and quicker as I dreaded the round of goodbyes I would have to go through. The staff I have had the chance to work with have been so amazing, friendly and inviting. I have truly learned a lot from them and the past couple months in their company have opened my eyes to different ways of teaching.

One person that has truly stood out was the Head Deputy at the school. She is such a lovely person and has been an amazing mentor. She is one of the sweetest persons I have ever had chance to meet and I very much hope to see her again someday. She truly cares for her staff and only wants the best for them. When I came by her office to bid her farewell, she surprised me with one of the most gorgeous scarves I have ever seen. She had noticed how much I love scarves and how I'm almost always wearing one, so she went and bough one from Miss Selfridge as a parting gift for me. I was truly touched by her thoughtful gesture and am so grateful for it.

Since I don't have my good camera here with me, I can't take a proper photograph of an outfit. However, I do have a similar dress as in the picture below and the scarf is actually the one that was given to me. The only item I don't have would be the mint coloured shoes, but these have been on my wish list for quite a while, so very soon...

Winter's a coming

Winter's a coming

With the cold weather making it's way here, here a ten super cute coats that could make the transition to the cooler seasons much better.

At the moment, I am weak for leather jackets such as the Black Faux Leather Jacket from Aéropostale. I recently bought one from New Look and I simply adore it. You can keep it casual and warm by wearing it open over a hoodie, but you can also dress it up by wearing it over a nice dress or with skinny jeans and some gorgeous pumps.

I am also a sucker for longer coats, such as the salmon coloured Marc Jacobs belted wrap coat, the mustard Vivienne Westwood coat, the red Miss Selfridge coat and the black Warehouse Crepe Military Coat. They seem a bit fancier than the average hip-length coat and would be perfect to wear out on a special events, such as on a date, an interview, an evening at the theatre, etc.

The grey Raxevsky jacket, the nude MSGM Cape en Laine and the sleeveless Haider Ackermann vest on the other hand, would be perfect for those warmer autumn evening when you only need a long sleeved shirt underneath to keep you warm. Add that to a nice of jeans with flats, and you've got the ideal casual day outfit!

Finally, the black Miu Miu belted jacket and the blue L K Bennett belted wool coat will look good on anyone, as the belt will accentuate the smallest part of your waist, therefore giving the gorgeous hourglass silhouette all the while keeping you warm and toasty.

Have you been wearing your warm coat already? What does it look like and with what kind of outfit do you prefer to wear it?

Cravings

Thank goodness for Polyvore. At the moment, I don't have a proper camera to take pictures of my outfits, so I am having a hard time posting about what I am wearing. However, with Polyvore, I am able to find pieces that are similar to what I have in my closet, so I can somewhat recreate the outfits I'm wearing. Yes, I may not have exactly every things as it is shown, but in a perfect world, I would. Also, it's like window shopping, but in the comfort of your own home.

Plus, you know how sometimes you may get a craving for, let's say, chips (I know in my case, it's quite often). What I try to do sometimes, is to trick my brain into thinking I am eating chips by eating something crispy but healthier like popcorn, cucumbers, etc. Well Polyvore is kind of like the same thing. At the moment, I am trying to save up my money, but with all the nice, new little shops surrounding me every time I set foot outside, it's a testament to my will power that I am not completely broke yet. So when I feel the urge to shop and buy some new clothes, I go on Polyvore and do some imaginary shopping. It kind of helps with the shopping craving AND when I do decide to go shopping, I will have in mind exactly what I want, thus maybe making save money by not going out of control and getting myself just about anything. It's like making a grocery list!

So when I see today's outfit, I can imagine myself wearing it while walking in the city in the afternoon, window-shopping, drinking a cappuccino while reading my latest favourite book in a little café. I am a big fan of cardigans and scarfs, so this ensemble would be my ideal hanging out outfit.
