My first week in Ireland

Has it already been a week since my arrival in Ireland? Really? It feels like it was only yesterday, and yet, it seems like I've been here forever.

This week has been quite extraordinaire: I got here just in time to celebrate a friend's birthday the day before celebrating New Year's Eve. I was also able to find myself an apartment and am now all moved in! It's a very small, one bedroom, but it's perfect for me! I cannot wait to fully decorate it and make it my own! I met many wonderful people who became good friends (I must say that all of my hostel roommates, and I there were 5 different ones, were pretty awesome!). I have visited many places, some of which I will certainly see again. I saw the film The Hobbit. I danced. I had a few drinks ( We are in Ireland of course!). But most of all... I laughed.

Tomorrow, I am heading towards Dublin for a week, and there will be a lot to be done (Going through orientation, registering with the Garda, opening a bank account...) but I am sure my week there will be just as grand and this one.

Have you ever had that need to be somewhere? As if a certain place simply called out your name and every particle of you is drawn to it? That is how I felt before coming back here, and every part of me now fells relief at being here once more.


When I landed in Dublin,  a week ago, I expected to have this rush, this feeling of excitement. I did feel those things, but not as intense as I thought I would. No, what I was mostly feeling was much more intense and much more relieving: I felt at home. It was as if my body was saying, "Finally, I'm here!".

Fait-il déjà fait une semaine depuis mon arrivée en Irlande? Vraiment? C'est comme si c'était hier et pourtant, il semble que je suis ici depuis toujours.

Cette semaine fut tout à fait extraordinaire: je suis arrivée ici juste à temps pour célébrer l'anniversaire d'un ami, la soirée avant le fête du Nouvel An. J'ai également pu me trouver un appartement et je suis maintenant tout emménagée! Il s'agit d'un très petit appartement avec une chambre à coucher, mais c'est parfait pour moi! Je ne peux pas attendre d'avoir terminé de décorer et de le rendre mien! J'ai rencontré beaucoup de gens merveilleux qui sont devenus de bons amis (je dois dire que tous mes colocataires à l'auberge de jeunesse, et j'en ai eu 5, étaient superbes!). J'ai visité de nombreux endroits, dont certains je vais certainement revoir. J'ai vu le film The Hobbit. J'ai dansé. J'ai eu quelques verres (Nous sommes en Irlande après tout!). Mais plus que tout ... J'ai ri.

Demain, je me dirige vers Dublin pour une semaine et je serai certainement très occupée (assister à une orientation, m'inscrire auprès de la Garda, ouvrir d'un compte bancaire ...) mais je suis certaine que ma semaine il sera tout aussi superbe que celle-ci.

Avez-vous déjà eu ce besoin d'être quelque part? Comme si un certain endroit appelait votre nom et que chaque particule de vous est attirée vers cet endroit? Voilà comment je me sentais avant de revenir ici, et chaque partie de mon être semble soupirer de soulagement d'être ici une fois de plus.

Quand j'ai atterrie à Dublin, il y a une semaine, je m'attendais à ressentir un excitation pas comme les autres. Bien sûr, je l'ai bien ressenti, mais pas comme que ce à quoi je m'attendais. Non, ce que je ressentais était beaucoup plus intense: je me suis sentie chez-moi. C'était comme si mon corps disait: «Enfin, je suis là!".

And so it begins...again

Have I ever mentioned just how much I hate winter? The cold, the snow, the wind, the cold, the SNOW!

Well here I am again, at the airport, waiting for my flight that will bring me to Dublin. Actually, I first have to make a stop in Philadelphia, and then, I'll be on my way to Dublin. Simple enough, right? Right!? Unfortunately, this is where Mother Nature comes in and BAM! Snow storm!  This resulted in a canceled flight, then a delayed flight and then waiting, waiting and more waiting.

However, I cannot bring myself to be displeased...or at least extremely displeased. Yes, I should be on my way to Philadelphia as we speak, but why should I stress myself out with things that are out of my control? I'm trying to keep my mind set on the fact that despite the fact that I don't know how or when, I will make it to Dublin. And really, that's all that I need to know.

Ai-je jamais dit à quel point je déteste l'hiver? Le froid, la neige, le vent, le froid, la NEIGE!

Et bien me voici de nouveau à l'aéroport, attendant mon vol qui va m'amener à Dublin. En fait, je dois d'abord m'arrêter en Philadelphie, et ensuite je vais m'envoler vers Dublin. Assez simple, oui? Oui!? Malheureusement, c'est ici que Dame nature fait son entrée et BAM! Tempête de neige! Cela me laisse donc avec une annulation de vol, puis un vol retardé, puis l'attente, l'attente et encore l'attente.

Cependant, je ne peux pas me résoudre à être mécontente... ou du moins très mécontente. Oui, je devrais être sur mon chemin à Philadelphie en ce moment, mais pourquoi devrais-je me stresser avec des choses qui sont hors de mon contrôle? J'essaie de garder en tête que malgré le fait que je ne sache pas comment ni quand, je vais me rendre à Dublin. Et vraiment, c'est tout ce que j'ai besoin de savoir.

Photographic Scavenger Hunt

With my impending departure for Ireland, I've become quite excited with all the different traveling prospects I have in mind for next year. I want to make the most of my time in Europe and take advantage of how easy it is to travel from one country to the other. As I was trying to fall asleep the other night (I'm having a harder and harder time as the 27th approaches), I thought about doing a photographic scavenger hunt. Since today is our second snow day of the year (hurray!), it seemed like the perfect time to get it started. Basically, I'm searching for photos of all the different places I plan on visiting (Scotland, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, England...) and I save pictures that I like so that when I do make it to those places, I'll have to try and find the exact same spot where the photographer was so that I can recreate that picture. I cannot wait to get started! Here are a few pictures I found that I will try to recreate...

Avec mon départ imminent pour l'Irlande, je suis de plus en plus excitée face à la perspective des différents voyages que j'aurai l'occasion de faire durant l'année prochaine. Je veux profiter au maximum de mon temps en Europe, surtout en ce qui à trait à la faciliter de visiter différents pays une fois rendue là. L'autre soir, alors que je tentais de m'endormir, (ce qui devient de plus en plus difficile en se rapprochant du 27), j'ai pensé à faire une chasse au trésor photographique. Puis qu'aujourd'hui est notre deuxième jour de neige de l'année (hourra!), il me semblait êtes le temps idéal pour préparer ma chasse. En gros, je dois trouver des photos de tous les différents endroits que je prévois visiter (Écosse, République Czech, Pologne, Allemagne, Angleterre ...) et sauvegarder les images que j'aime. Quand je serai à ces endroits, je vais devoir essayer de trouver l'endroit exact où le photographe était pour que je puisse recréer la photo. Je ne peux pas attendre de commencer! DIY Branche Clothing Rack

Seriously! How cool is this clothing rack? This (add and adjective here...I'm going to go with genius) blogger ended up with this beautiful hanging clothing rack after finding this random branch on the side of the road. You can find her blog, LOVE AESTHETICS by clicking on the link. All I have to say is that the first thing I do when I get to Ireland, is look for a branch so that I can build this in my apartment! Sérieusement! Comment cool est ce porte-vêtements? Cette (insérez un adjectif ici ... Je vais aller avec génie) blogueure s'est créé ce porte-vêtements suspendu après avoir trouvé une branche au hasard sur le bord de la route. Winter is a coming!

Well there is no denying... Winter is coming. Sure, I can kick and scream all I want, but  it'll be here soon nonetheless, so might as well make the best of it! One thing that sure makes up for the cold is the fact that we get to dress up with warm and comfy clothes! Plus, this year, I find there are so many cute styles going on, I can hardly be upset at winter any longer. Sure thinking of the snow, the cold, the wind, etc. makes me want to run and hide under my bed sheets until spring comes along, but then I think of fireplaces, hot chocolate and warm snuggles, and suddenly, winter doesn't seem so bad. So here are a few must-haves (in my opinion) for this winter to keep you cute and warm, all season long.

Eh bien, il n'y a plus aucun doute ... l'hiver arrive. Bien sûr, j'ai beau me débattre et crier, mais elle sera bientôt là tout de même, alors autant mieux en retirer le meilleur! Cependant, une chose qui rend le froid moins désagréable, c'est le fait que nous pouvons nous habiller avec des vêtements chauds et confortables! De plus, cette année, je trouve qu'il y a tellement de beaux styles, je peux difficilement être fâchée contre l'hiver plus longtemps. Bien sûr, penser à la neige, le froid, le vent, et tout ça me donne envie de courir me cacher sous mes draps jusqu'au printemps, mais je pense au feu dans la cheminée, aux bons chocolats chauds et aux étreintes chaudes et tout à coup, l'hiver n'est pas semble pas si mal. Voici donc quelques-uns des il-me-le-faut (à mon avis) pour cet hiver pour vous garder au chaud et à la mode toute la saison.

1- I am in love with big comfy shirts \ Je suis en amour avec les grands chandails confortables

2 - These ugly sweater pattern leggings are pretty much awesome! \ Ces leggings de chandails laids sont très cools!

3- A scarf: it's like you're always hugged \ Une écharpe : c'est comme si vous êtes toujours étreints

4 - A nice fire to keep you warm \ Un beau feu pour vous garder au chaud

5 - You're favorite books to take you to a far away place \ Vos livres préférés pour vous amener très très loin

6 - Hot chocolate because... well because it's hot chocolate! \ Du chocolat chaud parce que... et bien c'est du chocolat chaud!
