Day 8 - Dublin, Ireland

Here we are, in Dublin, for our very last day in Ireland. Like I said in my previous post, I will greatly miss this country and it's people.

Today was mostly spent packing, getting on the bus and taking a few more last minute pictures of Cork. We arrived in Dublin just in time to relax a bit, update our families on our whereabouts and get ready to go see Riverdance. We decided to make an evening out of it, so we put on our best dresses (mine's from our shopping day in Cork! So excited to be wearing it already!), did our makeup and hair and then went out for supper at a wonderful sushi restaurant before heading over to the show.

The show was AMAZING! The dancers, the musicians...all perfomed in perfection. I definately recommand it to anybody. I had goosbumps most of the time and was simply in awe.

We then finished it all with meeting a few friends to say our goodbyes. Overall, it was a great last night in Ireland.

Day 7 - Cork, Ireland

Our last day in Cork was spent, unfortunately, mostly inside. Mother Nature decided not to accommodate us and made it rain for most of the day. We ended up going to see a movie at the cinema (saw Snow White and the Huntsman which was great by the way) and then, since it wasn't raining anymore, we simply walked around the city. We even found a small Tim Hortons kiosque!

In the evening, a local friend met with us for a couple goodbye drinks. I really did not like saying goodbye, although I am convince it's not really a goodbye but more of a "see you later".

I can honestly say that I have fallen in love with Ireland. The nature, the history, the people here are simply amazing. One thing I will never forget, is how much of a warm welcome we received here. The Irish are definitely what makes this country a great one.

Until next time, slan!

Day 6 - Cork, Ireland

Today was a well deserved relaxing day. We slept in, went out for some breakfast and then went SHOPPING! We totally need a Penney's in Canada. The clothes! The prices! EVERYTHING! I got myself some very nice pieces for very few euros. I am so jealous that we don't have that store. It kind of reminded me of Forever21, but (dare I say it) better.

We then went to the English market and got a few goodies for a feast. Eggs, gouda cheese, and veggies were on the menu and we made ourselves a big delicious salad. After eating sandwiches, pasta and fries for a few days, the greenery was welcomed.

After, I put on my new purples skinnies, my new shoes and my awesome new top and went downstairs for a drink. We talked with a couple locals who tried to teach us some irish slangs and come gaelic sentences ( I can't say that I succeeded). All that I can remember is " 'tis grand", which means "yeah, it's ok/alright.".

We then decided to go hang out with a few other local friends and had a better than "grand" time. We listened to music, swing danced and just overall had fun.

I am sad that we are leaving this wonderful country in two days. We made some lovely friends and saw so many beautiful things, but I cannot wait to see what adventure lies before us in the rest of Europe.

Cheers,

Martine

Day 5 - Fota, Ireland

Today was a pretty relaxed day. We got to sleep in a little bit and wish everybody back home a happy Canada day. We ate a small breakfast and then got ready for the day. We took the train to the Fota Wildlife Park. This has got to be the coolest park/zoo ever! Almost all the animals we free to roam around the park! There were basically no cages, simply little rivers and small fences to keep the animals safe. However, there were lots of ducks, a peacock, kangaroos, an lemurs on the loose. We actually got to stand next to a kangaroo and to some funny lemurs! Like less than 5 feet from them!! Despite the rain and the cold, we had such a great day. We ended to whole event with a warming cup of tea. Mmmmm.

Day 4 - Blarney, Ireland

What an experience day 4 was. I finally got to kiss the Blarney stone! This was THE one tourist attraction I wanted to do in Ireland and it was so much more than I was expecting. I actually got teary eyed went I finally saw the castle, something I did not expect. I felt like a little kid in a candy store. We got to kiss the stone, see the amazing Blarney house, go on an adventure under the castle ( I got to play Indiana Jones for a few minutes), visit a poisonus garden (I saw plants from Harry Potter!!!) and went on a walk through the forest.

I loved everything about Blarney! Even though there was a huge line to get to the stone, it still went by so fast since it goes through the castle and there are so many little rooms to discover. The stairs going up were kind of scary, but in a good way. They were so tiny and small, you could only fit one person at a time. I wonder what it must have been like to actually live there. I can see myself as a kid growing up in the castle, just tumbling down those stairs. Not something I wish on anybody, ha!

We then finished the day by making ourselves some delicious pasta and meatballs and then went out with a few friends. A perfect ending to a perfect day. So here are a few pictures and a video of our day. Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed our day!
